LOUIS KOEHL SR. 1855 - 1933

LOUIS KOEHL, SR.

LOUIS KOEHL, SR., FOR MANY YEARS A RESIDENT OF THIS COMMUNITY, PASSED AWAY AT HIS HOME 208 W. WALNUT STREET, ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON AT TWO O’CLOCK, AT THE AGE OF 78 YEARS AND 11 DAYS. HIS ILLNESS DATES BACK SEVERAL YEARS.

LOUIS KOEHL WAS BORN IN LATHRINGEN, FRANCE, MARCH 10, 1855, A SON OF HENRY AND CHARLOTTE KOEHL. HE RECEIVED HIS EDUCATION IN THE SCHOOLS OF HIS NATIVE TOWN, COMING TO AMERICA IN 1876, WHEN HE WAS 21 YEARS OLD. FOR MANY YEARS HE LIVED SOUTHEAST OF FAIRBURY, BUT RETIRED FROM THE FARM IN 1917, AND MOVED TO THIS CITY, WHERE HE HAD SINCE RESIDED.

HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MISS ELIZABETH FEHR, AND SURVIVING FROM THIS UNION IS ONE DAUGHTER, MRS. CARL SCHAUBLE, OF SAUNEMIN. FOLLOWING THE DEATH OF MRS. KOEHL, HE WAS IN 1891 UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MISS MARY WAIBEL, WHO PASSED AWAY APRIL 19, 1929. THREE CHILDREN SURVIVE FROM THIS LATTER UNION AND ARE AS FOLLOWS: MRS. LOUISE ZIMMERMAN AND PAUL KOEHL, OF STRAWN, AND LOUIS KOEHL, OF FAIRBURY. THERE ALSO SURVIVES ONE BROTHER, HENRY, OF FARMINGDALE, LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK.

DURING HIS MANY YEARS RESIDENCE HERE MR. KOEHL, THROUGH HIS HONESTY AND INTEGRITY, GAINED AND HELD THE ESTEEM OF ALL WHO KNEW HIM. HIS CHILDREN WILL REMEMBER HIM AS A KIND AND GENTLE FATHER.

THE FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD YESTERDAY AFTERNOON FROM THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH, WITH INTERMENT IN GRACELAND CEMETERY.

JACOB SCHLIPF 1866 - 1917

JACOB SCHLIPF

JACOB SCHLIPF, ONE OF THE HIGHLY RESPECTED RESIDENTS OF THIS VICINITY, PASSED AWAY AT HIS HOME IN THE SOUTHEAST PART OF FAIRBURY, LAST SUNDAY, AGED 50 YEARS, 11 MONTHS AND 24 DAYS. HIS DEATH CAME AFTER AN ILLNESS OF OVER A YEAR’S DURATION AND WAS CAUSED BY A CANCEROUS GROWTH IN HIS HEAD.

THE DECEASED WAS BORN IN WURTTENBERG, GERMANY, AMY 5, 1866, AND HE CAME TO THIS COUNTRY IN 1881, WHERE HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MISS MARY BESSLER. WHEN MR. SCHLIPF CAME TO AMERICA, HE LOCATED FIRST IN TREMONT, TAZEWELL COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AND A SHORT TIME LATER WENT TO PEORIA. TWENTY-FOUR YEARS AGO HE MOVED TO A FARM NEAR FORREST, WHERE HE RESIDED TWENTY-TWO YEARS, MOVING TO SOUTH OF THIS CITY TWO YEARS AGO. EIGHT CHILDREN WERE BORN TO MR. AND MRS. SCHLIPF, FIVE GIRLS AND THREE BOYS, ALL OF WHOM ARE AT HOME.

MR. SCHLIPF WAS AN EXCELLENT GENTLEMAN AND A KIND AND LOVING HUSBAND AND FATHER.

THE FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD ON WEDNESDAY FROM THE GERMAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH IN THIS CITY, OF WHICH HE WAS A MEMBER. THE LARGE CONCOURSE OF PEOPLE WHO WERE PRESENT TOLD OF THE HIGH ESTEEM IN WHICH HE WAS HELD. MANY WERE PRESENT FROM OUT OF TOWN. THE REMAINS WERE LAID TO REST IN THE FAIRBURY CEMETERY.

ALBERT STEFFEN 1863 - 1948

ALBERT STEFFEN

ALBERT STEFFEN, OF CROPSEY, PASSED AWAY LAST FRIDAY EVENING (MARCH 26, 1948) AT 10:35 O'CLOCK AT THE FAIRBURY HOSPITAL, AT THE AGE OF 84 YEARS, FIVE MONTHS AND 22 DAYS. MR. STEFFEN HAD BEEN IN FAILING HEALTH THE PAST TWO YEARS.

HE WAS BORN OCTOBER 4, 1863, AT CONGERVILLE, THE SON OF ULRICH AND ANNA (WENGER) STEFFEN. AT THE AGE OF FOUR HE MOVED WITH THE FAMILY TO THE CROPSEY VICINITY, WHERE HE HAD SINCE RESIDED.

ON FEBRUARY 28, 1886, HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MISS ELIZABETH HARI. TO THIS UNION FOUR CHILDREN WERE BORN: MRS. ROSE IFFT, OF FAIRBURY; MRS. IDA BAHLER, CROPSEY; AND MRS. EMMA BAHLER, OF REMINGTON, IND. A SON ELMER, PRECEDE HIM IN DEATH IN 1919. MRS. STEFFEN PASSED AWAY ON JANUARY 22, 1912.

ON FEBRUARY 10, 1915, MR. STEFFEN WAS MARRIED TO LIZZIE BROQUARD, WHO SURVIVES TOGETHER WITH THE THREE DAUGHTERS, SIXTEEN GRANDCHILDREN AND FOUR GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD MONDAY MORNING AT 10:30 O'CLOCK AT THE SOUTH APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH, OF WHICH HE WAS A MEMBER, AND INTERMENT WAS IN THE CHURCH CEMETERY. THE REV. DAVID MANGOLD OFFICIATED.

THE PALLBEARERS WERE GRANDSONS, MARVIN AND RALPH BAHLER, RAYMOND, ELMER AND HARVEY IFFT AND ELMER BAHLER.

THE SERVICES WERE LARGELY ATTENDED. THOSE ATTENDING FROM A DISTANCE WERE FROM REMINGTON AND FRANCESVILLE, IND., MANSFLEID, OHIO, WICHITA, KAN., PEORIA, ROANOKE, MORTON, PRINCEVILLE, GOODFIELD, GRIDLEY, CISSNA PARK, ELGIN AND CHICAGO.

EDWARD HARTMAN 1858 - 1940

EDWARD HARTMAN, SR.

EDWARD HARTMAN, SR. WHO HAD SPENT THE GREATER PART OF HIS MORE THAN FOUR SCORE IN THIS CITY AND VICINITY, PASSED AWAY AT THE FAIRBURY HOSPITAL, ON MONDAY MORNING AT 7:15 O’CLOCK AT THE AGE OF 81 YEARS, 2 MONTHS AND 24 DAYS.

BORN IN PEORIA NOVEMBER 4, 1858, SON OF FREDERICK AND ELEANORA HARTMAN, HE LIVED THERE UNTIL 14 YEARS OF AGE WHEN THE FAMILY REMOVED TO A FARM NEAR EUREKA, WHERE HE WORKED FOR HIS FATHER 12 YEARS.

ON JANUARY 18, 1885, HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MARY STEFFEN, AND THREE YEARS LATER THEY MOVED TO A FARM NEAR STRAWN, WHERE MRS. HARTMAN PASSED AWAY JUNE 2, 1911, LEAVING BESIDES HER HUSBAND FIVE SONS AND THREE DAUGHTER.

MR. HARTMAN ON NOVEMBER 20TH 1913, WAS MARRIED TO ANNA DATWEILER. THEY RESIDED ON THE FARM NEAR STRAWN FOR SIX YEARS, MOVING TO THIS CITY IN THE WINTER OF 1919.

AT THE AGE OF 23 YEARS MR. HARTMAN BECAME A MEMBER OF THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH, REMAINING A FAITHFUL AND ACTIVE MEMBER IN THAT CHURCH FOR 59 YEARS.

SURVIVING BESIDES THE WIDOW ARE EIGHT SONS - SILAS AND DAVE, STRAWN; EDWAED, JR., OF CHICAGO; EZRA, LEIPSIC, O.; JEFF, LLOYD AND ALVIN, ALL OF FAIRBURY, LEROY OF MORTON; THREE DAUGHTERS - MRS. JOHN ALT, OF CISSNA PARK; MRS. FRED KARLE, OF PAYNE, O.; MRS. HOWARD HAY, OF CHICAGO. ALSO SURVIVING IS A SISTER, MRS. LYDIA MANGOLD, OF ROANOKE. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A DAUGHTER, LOIS.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT ONE O’CLOCK WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AT THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH. INTERMENT WAS IN GRACELAND CEMETERY.

PHILIP SOHN SR. 1857 - 1912

PHILLIP SOHN DIES SUDDENLY

PHILLIP SOHN, ONE OF THE WELL KNOWN AND PROMINENT GERMAN FARMERS OF FORREST TOWNSHIP, DIED VERY SUDDENLY MONDAY EVENING ABOUT FIVE O’CLOCK FROM AN ATTACK OF APPOPLEXY. MR. SOHN HAD BEEN FEELING UNUSUALLY WELL OF LATE AND MONDAY WAS ASSISTING IN PUTTING UP HAY ON HIS FARM, FOUR MILES SOUTH OF FORREST. HE WAS NOT WORKING A GREAT DEAL, BUT HAD A FORK AND WAS GATHERING UP THE LOOSE HAY HERE AND THERE AND PILLING IT UP. HIS BOY AND HIS SON-IN-LAW, FRED RIEGER, WERE RUNNING THE HAY LOADER AND UNLOADING THE HAY. THE TWO YOUNG MEN HAD DRIVEN, INTO THE BARN LOT, WHICH WAS JUST ACROSS THE ROAD FROM THE HAY FIELD, AND WERE GOING TO UNLOAD THEIR HAY AND GO BACK FOR THE LAST LOAD. MR. SOHN’S SON LOOKED AROUND AND SAW HIS FATHER MOTION FOR HIM TO COME. HE KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND BOTH YOUNG MEN HASTENED TO THE STRICKEN MAN. WHEN THEY REACHED HIS SIDE HE COULD NOT TALK. THE WOMEN FOLK BROUGHT WATER WHICH THEY TRIED TO GIVE HIM, BUT HE COULD NOT SWALLOW IT. THEY CARRIED HIM TI THE HOUSE AND SUMMONED A DOCTOR, BUT BE BREATHED HIS LAST A SHORT TIME AFTER REACHING THE HOUSE AND BEFORE THE DOCTOR ARRIVED. MR. SOHN HAD SUFFERED ATTACKS OF HEART TROUBLE PREVIOUSLY AND HAD FREQUENTLY PREDICTED THAT HE WOULD DIE IN JUST THAT MANNER. HE HAD BEEN LOOKING AND FEELING UNUSUALLY WELL OF LATE AND MONDAY HAD REMARKED UPON HOW GOOD HE WAS FEELING.

PHILLIP SOHN WAS BORN ON A FARM IN ELSASS, NEAR REISHOFEN, COUNTY OF NUDERBRAUN, GERMANY, MAY 12, 1857. HE CAME TO AMERICA WHEN HE WAS 16 YEARS OLD AND WENT TO WORK FOR JOHN EBERSALL IN FORREST TOWNSHIP. A FEW YEARS LATER HE WENT TO ROANOKE, WHERE HE FOLLOWED THE OCCUPATION OF A FARMER, IT WAS THERE HE MET AND MARRIED MISS ELOUISE WAINETTE IN 1882. TWELVE CHILDREN WERE BORN TO THEM OF WHOM THERE ARE NINE SURVIVING, TWO SONS AND ONE DAUGHTER DYING IN INFANCY. THE

SURVIVING CHILDREN ARE SALOME RIEGER, TILLIE, LIZZIE, PHILLIP, BENJAMIN, MARTHA, JEFFIE, LYDIA AND PERCILLA, WHO WITH THE BEREAVED WIFE AND NUMEROUS FRIENDS AND RELATIVES MOURN HIS DEATH.

MR. AND MRS. SOHN CAME TO THIS LOCALITY 23 YEARS AGO AND HE ENGAGED IN FARMING SOUTH OF FORREST. HE WAS AN HONEST AND UPRIGHT CITIZEN, A KIND AND LOVING HUSBAND AND FATHER AND A GOOD NEIGHBOR. HIS DEATH WILL BE MOURNED BY MANY FRIENDS AND THE BEREAVED FAMILY HAVE THE SYMPATHY OF ALL.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR GEORGE IFFT WERE HELD SUNDAY AFTERNOON FROM THE CHRISTIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH AND INTERMENT WAS IN THE CHURCH CEMETERY. MR. IFFT PASSED AWAY LAST FRIDAY MORNING AT SEVEN O'CLOCK AT THE HOME OF MR. AND MRS. ELI STEIDINGER FOLLOWING A SEVERAL WEEKS ILLNESS. HE WAS AGED 81 YEARS; SIX MONTHS AND EIGHT DAYS.

MR. IFFT WAS BORN IN WALROTH, HESSEN GERMANY, JULY 4 1863. WHEN 18 YEARS OF AGE HE CAME TO AMERICA, AND ON APRIL 21 1884, HE WAS UNITED ON MARRIAGE TO SUSANNAH MILLER, OF CONGERVILLE. TO THEM WERE BORN MRS. MINNIE STEIDINGER, MARGARET, WILLIAM, OF STRAWN; JOHN, OF PEORIA; SAM, OF CROPSEY; MRS. SUSIE SCHLICK, OF ELGIN. MRS. IFFT PASSED AWAY DECEMBER 24 1893, AND IN APRIL 1895, HE WAS MARRIED TO SALOME SCHLIPF, OF PEORIA. SHE PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH IN SEPTEMBER 1897. ON NOVEMBER 25 1898, HE WAS MARRIED TO MARGARET HARI, OF FORREST. SHE SURVIVES TOGETHER WITH THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN BORN TO THIS UNION: MRS. SALOME FEHR, OF ROANOKE; MRS. BERTHA STEIDINGER, OF FORREST; FRED AND GEORGE, OF FAIRBURY; PAUL, OF FORREST; MRS. EDNA MUELLER, OF STRAWN. THERE ARE 48 GRANDCHILDREN.

MR. IFFT WAS A FARMER, WHICH OCCUPATION HE FOLLOWED FOR MANY YEARS, SOUTHEAST OF THIS CITY. HE RETIRED ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE CHRISTIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH.

BENJAMIN LEMAN 1878 - 1948

BEN LEMAN, PROMINENT FORREST MAN, DIES

BEN LEMAN, OF FORREST, WHO FOR MANY YEARS RESIDED SOUTH OF THAT VILLAGE, PASSED AWAY AT HIS HOME IN FORREST, WEDNESDAY MORNING AT 3:30 O’CLOCK. MR. LEMAN, WHO HAD BEEN ILL FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS WAS AGED 70 YEARS, TEN MONTHS AND 17 DAYS.

MR. LEMAN WAS A SON OF JOSEPH AND KATHRYN (SMITH) LEMAN AND WAS BORN AT METAMORA, JANUARY 21, 1878. HE RESIDED IN THAT VICINITY DURING HIS YOUNGER LIFE AND THERE ON JANUARY 8, 1901, HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO CAROLINE ANLIKER. THEY MADE THEIR HOME AT METAMORA FOR THREE YEARS AND THEN MOVED TO A FARM SOUTH OF FORREST, WHERE THEY LIVED UNTIL OCTOBER 13, 1948, WHEN THEY MOVED INTO THEIR NEW HOME IN FORREST.

SURVIVING ARE THE WIFE AND THE FOLLOWING NINE CHILDREN: HARVEY AND MRS. KATHRYN SCHNEIDER, BOTH OF STRAWN; ELI AND CHRIS, BOTH OF FAIRBURY; MRS. LAURA KACHELMUSS, ELGIN; AND SIDNEY, RICHARD AND MISS BENA LEMAN, ALL OF FORREST. ALSO SURVIVING ARE 18 GRANDCHILDREN AND THE FOLLOWING BROTHERS AND SISTERS: WILL, OF BREMEN, IND.; HENRY AND MRS. KATIE RELSY, BOTH OF FRANCESVILLE, IND.; DAVE, GOODFIELD, JOSEPH, ROANOKE, ALF, OF METAMORA, AND JOHN AND MISS PERCIDA AND MISS ELIZA LEMAN, ALL OF EUREKA. TWO SONS, SILAS AND ERNEST, ONE DAUGHTER, LEONA, TWO BROTHERS AND FOUR SISTER PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD FROM THE SOUTH APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF WHICH HE WAS A MEMBER, TOMORROW MORNING AT 10:30 O’CLOCK. INTERMENT WILL BE IN THE CHURCH CEMETERY.

PAUL HOFFMAN 1878 - 1933

PAUL HOFFMANN KILLED AS TRAIN STRIKES AUTO

JACOB BOHNING, OF GERMANY, MEETS DEATH IN SAME ACCIDENT, WHICH OCCURRED AT BUCYRUS, OHIO.

PAUL HOFFMANN, AGED 55 YEARS, A WELL KNOWN AND HIGHLY ESTEEMED FARMER RESIDING FOUR MILES SOUTHEAST OF FAIRBURY, AND JACOB BOHNING, OF SELMINGER, GERMANY, WERE BOTH KILLED YESTERDAY MORNING ABOUT FIVE O’CLOCK AT BUCYRUS, O., WHEN THE HOFFMANN CAR WAS STRUCK BY A FAST PENNSYLVANIA PASSENGER TRAIN.

MR. HOFFMANN HAD LEFT FAIRBURY ON TUESDAY MORNING AND GONE TO MANSFIELD, O., WHERE HE HAD MET MARTIN STEIDINGER, PETER SCHAFFER AND JOHN BOLLIGER, ALSO OF FAIRBURY. THESE LATTER THREE GENTLEMEN HAD GONE TO ROCKVILLE, CONN., LAST WEEK WHERE THEY HAD MET FOUR ELDERS OF THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH, WHO HAD COME TO THIS COUNTRY FROM SWITZERLAND AND GERMANY ON A BUSINESS MISSION CONNECTED WITH THE CHURCH. ALL THREE CARS HAD LEFT MANSFIELD EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING ON THEIR WAY TO BUCYRUS WHERE THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED.

THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE FROM BUCYRUS TELLS OF THE ACCIDENT:

BUCYRUS, O., SEPT. 21 (SPECIAL TO THE BLADE) - JACOB BOHNING, AGED 62, OF SELMINGER, GERMANY, AND PAUL HOFFMANN, AGED 55, OF FAIRBURY, ILLINOIS, WERE INSTANTLY KILLED WHEN THEIR AUTOMOBILE WAS STRUCK BY A FAST WESTBOUND PENNSYLVANIA PASSENGER TRAIN ON THE LINCOLN HIGHWAY CROSSING HERE AT FIVE O’CLOCK THIS MORNING. BOTH DIED OF SKULL FRACTURE.

HOFFMAN, WITH PETER SCHAFFER, JOHN BOLLIGER AND MARTIN STEIDINGER, FAIRBURY, AND EARL BAER, OF REMINGTON, IND., HAD GONE TO MANSFIELD, O., TO MEET BOHNING AND OTTO KILLEY, OF GERMANY, FATHER OF PEORIA, ILLINOIS, WOMAN; AND JACOB KUENZIE AND ELMER OBRECHT, OF BERNE, SWITZERLAND. THIS PARTY OF FOUR HAD ARRIVED FROM THE OLD COUNTRY LAST FRIDAY IN NEW YORK CITY, AND HAD VISITED IN CONNECTICUT BEFORE STARTING WEST TO MEET ILLINOIS FRIENDS AT MANSFIELD.

BOHNING WAS RIDING WITH HOFFMANN WHILE THE OTHERS WERE IN TWO OTHER CARS. THE OTHER TWO CARS PASSED OVER THE CROSSING AND CONTINUED WEST TO UPPER SANDUCKY, 18 MILES FROM HERE, WHERE THEY DISCOVERED THE HOFFMANN CAR WAS MISSING. THEY TURNED BACK IN SEARCH AND UPON ARRIVING AT THE CROSSING HERE FOUND THE DEMOLISHED CAR. THE BODIES HAS BEEN REMOVED TO FUNERAL PARLOR.

THIS CROSSING IS NOT PROTECTED BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND 6 O’CLOCK IN THE MORNING. TWO MOTORISTS FROM JOHNSTOWN, PA., SAW THE ACCIDENT, AND REPORTED THE HOFFMANN CAR DROVE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE TRAIN. BODIES BEING SHIPPED THIS AFTERNOON TO FAIRBURY.

OBITUARY

PAUL HOFFMANN WAS BORN IN RENOURE, FRANCE, MAY 7, 1878, BEING AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH AGED 55 YEARS, 4 MONTHS AND 14 DAYS. HIS PARENTS WERE JACOB AND CHRISTINA HOFFMANN.

WHEN FIVE YEARS OF AGE MR. HOFFMANN CAME WITH THE FAMILY TO THIS COUNTRY, LOCATING IN FORREST. LATER THEY WENT TO CISSNA PARK, WHERE HE RECEIVED HIS EDUCATION AND WHERE HE GREW TO YOUNG MANHOOD.

ON DECEMBER 7, 1902 IN THIS CITY, MR. HOFFMANN WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO EMMA SLAGEL, AND HE HAD RESIDED IN THIS VICINITY SINCE THAT TIME. SURVIVING BESIDES MRS. HOFFMANN ARE THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: MRS. MARIA KILGUS, OF FAIRBURY; MRS. MARTHA IFFT, OF FORREST; JOE, LEONA, LEVI, ALICE, SAM, PAUL, RALPH AND CLYDE, AT HOME. THERE ARE ALSO BROTHERS AND SISTERS AS FOLLOWS: JOHN, OF RENOURE, FRANCE; JOE, OF ROANOKE; ANDY, OF FOUNTAIN CREEK; SAM, OF CISSNA PARK; MRS. LENA YOST, OF FAIRBURY; MRS. CARRIE STOLLER, OF PEORIA; MRS. LYDIA SWING, OF SAN PIERRE, IND.; MRS. MAGGIE SPRINGER, OF CONGERVILLE; MRS. LUCY FARNEY, OF FOUNTAIN CREEK. HIS FATHER PASSED AWAY IN THIS CITY JANUARY 20, 1914, AND HIS MOTHER DIED AT CISSNA PARK IN SEPTEMBER, 1908.

MR. HOERR WAS BORN AT BADEN, GERMANY, JUNE 17, 1871, A SON OF PETER AND CAROLINE FLEUER HOERR. HE GREW TO YOUNG MANHOOD IN HIS NATIVE COUNTRY, COMING TO THE UNITED STATES IN MAY, 1893. SEVEN YEARS LATER, JANUARY 14, 1900, AT MORTON, HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MARIE BRENKMAN. THEY FARMED NEAR FAIRBURY UNTIL MOVING TO THEIR PRESENT HOME ON EAST HICKORY STREET SEVERAL YEARS AGO.

SHE WAS BORN IN BERN, SWITZERLAND, APRIL 15, 1871, A DAUGHTER OF FRED AND ELIZABETH TROXELL HARI, SHE CAME TO THE UNITED STATES WHEN SHE WAS 11 YEARS OLD. SHE MARRIED SAMUEL L. ROTH IN FAIRBURY IN 1898. THEY LIVED ON A FARM SOUTH OF HERE UNTIL 1936, WHEN THEY MOVED TO FAIRBURY.

SURVIVING ARE FIVE SONS, SAM, MORTON; JOE, PEORIA; BEN, GLENDALE, CALIF.; JOHN, FAIRBURY; HARRY, FORREST; TWO DAUGHTERS, MISS CATHERINE ROTH AND MISS ANNA ROTH, BOTH OF FAIRBURY; 14 GRANDCHILDREN AND NINE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN. SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER HUSBAND, THREE DAUGHTERS, THREE BROTHERS AND FOUR SISTERS.

SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH.
