CHILDREN: JACOB, ELIZABETH, MAGDALENA, HENRY, JOHN, KATHRINE, CHRISTINA, CHRISTIAN AND LYDIA
DIED 1871, BURIED IN THE GRIDLEY CEMETERY.
2. ELDER GEORGE GRAMM 1896 - 1976
HOLD FUNERAL SERVICES FOR GEORGE M. GRAMM
GEORGE M. GRAMM, 79, OF GRIDLEY DIED AT 8:37 A.M. MONDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 1976, AT MENNONITE HOSPITAL, WHERE HE HAD BEEN A PATIENT FOR TWO WEEKS.
VISITATION WAS FROM 3 TO 5 AND 7 TO 9 P.M. WEDNESDAY AT THE FROELICH MEMORIAL HOME AND AN HOUR SERVICES AT THE CHURCH.
HIS FUNERAL WILL BE AT 10:30 A.M. THURSDAY AT THE GRIDLEY APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH, CHURCH MINISTERS OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN GRIDLEY CEMETERY.
PALLBEARERS ARE MICHAEL GRAMM, JAMES GRAMM, BRADLEY GRAMM, JEFFERY GRAMM, GREGORY GRAMM, THEODORE GRAMM, ROGER WITZIG AND CURTIS WITZIG, ALL GRANDSONS OF MR. GRAMM.
HE WAS BORN DEC. 9, 1896, IN GRIDLEY, A SON OF CHRISTIAN AND CATHERINE MANGOLD GRAMM. HE MARRIED LOUISE V. GRUSY NOV. 20, 1921, AT GRIDLEY. SHE SURVIVES.
ALSO SURVIVING ARE TWO DAUGHTERS, MRS. MARJORIE WITZIG, GRIDLEY, AND MISS MILDRED GRAMM, AT HOME; FOUR SONS, ROBERT, HERBERT AND DONALD, ALL OF GRIDLEY, AND HAROLD, HANCOCK, MINN.; BROTHER, WILLIAM, GRIDLEY; A SISTER, MRS. NELLIE LAMBERT, WICHITA, KAN.; 25 GRANDCHILDREN, AND NINE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN.
TWO SISTERS AND A GRANDCHILD PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH.
HE WAS A RETIRED FARMER. HE HAD FARMED FOR 35 YEARS IN THE GRIDLEY AREA.
MR. GRAMM HAD BEEN MINISTER OF THE GRIDLEY APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH FOR 43 YEARS AND WAS AN ELDER FOR NINE YEARS.
MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO THE HANDICAPPED CHILDREN’S HOME IN MORTON.
3. ENGELBERT GRUSY 1854 - 1924
BORN NOVEMBER 3, 1854, IN OBERESCHACH, GERMANY
MARRIED FRANZISKA YERGLER
CHILDREN: LEO, PIUS, ANNA, WILLIAM, MARY, LENA, EMMA, BERTHA, ALBERT, EMIL, JOHN AND LOUISE
DIED MARCH 1, 1924. BURIED IN GRIDLEY CEMETERY
4. LEO GRUSY 1878 - 1949
LEO GRUSY FUNERAL SERVICES ARE HELD SUNDAY AFTERNOON LEO GRUSY, 71, PASSED AWAY ON FRIDAY, APRIL 29, AT 5:55 A.M., AT HIS HOME IN GOODFIELD. THE BODY WAS TAKEN TOT HE OTTO-VINCENT FUNERAL HOME IN CARLOCK, AND RETURNED TO THE FAMILY HOME ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD SUNDAY FROM THE HOME AT 12:30 P.M. AND FROM THE GOODFIELD APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH AT 1 P.M. THE REV. DAVID MANGOLD, OF ROANOKE, AND THE REV. HENRY KILGUS, OF FORREST, OFFICIATED.
BURIAL WAS MADE IN THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CEMETERY AT MACKINAW DELLS. PALLBEARERS WERE THE FOLLOWING NEPHEWS OF THE DECEASED: ALBERT STOLLER, ELMER MEISS, HAROLD GRAMM, IRA GRUSY, ALBERT GRUSY JR. AND LEO FUNK.
THE REV. MR. GRUSY WAS BORN IN BADEN, GERMANY, ON MARCH 25, 1878, A SON OF ENGELBERT AND FRANCES YERGLER GRUSY, COMING TO AMERICA AT THE AGE OF TWO YEARS. HE HAD LIVED IN THE VICINITY OF GRIDLEY UNTIL 20 YEARS AGO. HE MARRIED JACOBINA KIEFER ON MARCH 10, 1907.
A LARGE NUMBER OF RELATIVES AND FRIENDS ATTENDED THE FUNERAL COMING FROM MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, INDIANA, OHIO, OKLAHOMA, AND ELGIN, FORREST, FAIRBURY, CISSNA PARK, KANAKEE, BLOOMINGTON, CHICAGO, PEORIA, TREMONT, PRINCEVILLE, MORTON, ROANOKE, EUREKA, CARLOCK AND GRIDLEY.
THE WIDOW SURVIVES, WITH THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: MRS. ALDENNE SCHRTER, OF CHICAGO; EDWARD, OF EUREKA; MRS. PERSIDA WIEGAND, OF CARLOCK; MRS. BERTHA WINGLER, OF ALTO, MICH.; ELMER, OF DANVERS, AND MISS FRIEDA, AT HOME, AND 14 GRANDCHILDREN.
THREE BROTHERS AND SIX SISTERS ALSO SURVIVE: WILLIAM, OF SECOR, AND ALBERT AND EMIL, OF GRIDLEY; MRS. CHRIS STOLLER, MRS. PETER MEISS, MRS. GEORGE GRAMM, MRS. JOSEPH FUNK AND MISS EMMA GRUSY, ALL OF GRIDLEY, AND MRS. GUS MEISS, OF CISSNA PARK.
MR. GRUSY WAS A MEMBER OF THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH.
5. JOEL HERMAN 1826 - 1896
BORN 1826, IN WAYNE COUNTY, OHIO
MARRIED FANNY GERBER, 1855, IN WOODFORD COUNTY, ILLINOIS
CHILDREN: JACOBENA, EPHRIAM, MANNASSAH, PHIEOBE, CALEB, LYDIA, LEAH AND JOSHUA
DIED 1896, BURIED IN HARPER COUNTY, KANSAS
6. MICHAEL KIEFER 1830 - 1905
MIKE KIEFER, FATHER OF GEORGE KIEFER OF THIS CITY, DIED AT HIS HOME IN GRIDLEY LAST SATURDAY, AGED 74 YEARS. THE FUNERAL WAS HELD AT GRIDLEY, MONDAY, REV. MIKE MANGOLD, OF ROANOKE, OFFICIATING. ABOUT 35 OF THE FRIENDS FROM THIS PLACE ATTENDED.
7. ELDER JOSEPH KLOPFENSTEIN 1897 - 1965
JOSEPH KLOPFENSTEIN DIES FOLLOWING HEART ATTACK
JOSEPH KLOPFENSTEIN, 67, MINISTER OF THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH, DIED AT 4:20 P.M. FRIDAY, MARCH 5, OF A HEART ATTACK AT HIS HOME.
HIS FUNERAL WAS HELD AT 1 P.M. MONDAY AT THE FROELICH MEMORIAL HOME AND AT 1:30 P.M. AT THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH. BURIAL WAS IN THE GRIDLEY CEMETERY.
HE WAS MINISTER OF THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH FOR 36 YEARS AND AN ELDER FOR 17 YEARS.
HE WAS BORN MAY 25, 1897, AT GRIDLEY, A SON OF PETER AND SOPHIA MEISS KLOPFENSTEIN.
HE MARRIED SETTA KAEHR ON MARCH 6, 1921, OF BLUFFTON, IND.
HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, A SON, CARLTON, NORMAL; A DAUGHTER, CAROLYN SCHLIPF, GRIDLEY; THREE BROTHERS, FRED OF CHAMPAIGN, HARRY OF FAIRBURY, AND WILLIAM OF MORTON; FOUR SISTERS, IDA LEMMON OF SAUNEMIN, MRS. MARY MARTIN OF GRIDLEY, MRS. ANNE FREED OF ROCK ISLAND AND MRS. MINERVA STAHL OF BLOOMINGTON.
HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY FIVE BROTHERS, AND A SISTER.
PALLBEARERS WERE RALPH KLOPFENSTEIN, PERRY KLOPFENSTEIN OF GRIDLEY, JAMES KLOPFENSTEIN OF MORTON, JOHN WUETTERICH OF EUREKA, HERBERT KLOPFENSTEIN OF CHICAGO, AND LARRY STAHL OF CHAMPAIGN.
8. ADAM MESSER 1824 - 1905
DEATH OF ADAM MESSER
ADAM MESSER DIED AT HIS HOME IN THIS CITY EAST SIXTH STREET, MONDAY NIGHT, JULY 17, 1905, AT 9:00 O’CLOCK, IN THE 81ST YEAR OF HIS AGE, DEATH BEING DUE TO HIS GREAT WEIGHT OF YEARS. HE WAS A MINISTER OF THE GERMAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH, AND PREACHED HERE BUT A FEW WEEKS AGO. HE WAS MAN BELOVED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM. HE LEFT SIX DAUGHTERS LIVING NEAR HERE, AND A DAUGHTER, IN PEORIA, ALSO ONE SON. THE WIFE DIED FIVE YEARS AGO. THE FUNERAL TOOK PLACE YESTERDAY AT 10 A.M. AT THE GERMAN CHURCH IN THIS CITY.
9. GUY MILLER 1884 - 1961
FORMER MINISTER DIED AT PORTLAND
THE REV. GUY MILLER; AGE 76, OF PORTLAND, OREGON, AND FORMERLY OF GRIDLEY, PASSED AWAY LAST WEDNESDAY AT PORTLAND.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD SATURDAY MORNING AT THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH. BURIAL WAS IN PORTLAND.
SURVIVORS ARE HIS WIFE: 2 SONS, ROBERT AND HAROLD; THREE DAUGHTERS, MRS. ELVA HUNSICKER [UNSICKER], MRS. GLEN[N] HACKENJOS AND MRS. ROY [RAY] COOPER.
REV. MILLER MOVED TO OREGON FROM GRIDLEY IN 1947. HE LIVED IN GRIDLEY FOR TEN YEARS AND WAS MINISTER AT THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH.
JOE KLOPFENSTEIN FLEW TO PORTLAND LAST FRIDAY TO ATTEND THE FUNERAL OF MR. MILLER. HE RETURNED TO GRIDLEY TUESDAY.
