THE TRAUB FAMILY

JOHN TRAUB PASSED AWAY SUNDAY

JOHN TRAUB, A RESIDENT OF FAIRBURY AND VICINITY FOR 57 YEARS, DIED AT THE FAIRBURY HOSPITAL SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT THREE O’CLOCK AT THE AGE OF 82 YEARS, ONE MONTH AND TWO DAYS.

MR. TRAUB WAS A NATIVE OF GERMANY, BEING BORN AT WURTTEMBERG, JULY 20TH, 1866. HE GREW TO YOUNG MANHOOD IN HIS NATIVE COUNTRY, COMING TO THE UNITED STATES IN 1891. SIX YEARS LATER HE LOCATED ON A FARM SOUTH OF FORREST.

MR. TRAUB WAS TWICE MARRIED, HIS FIRST MARRIAGE BEING TO MISS MARGARET IFFT, WHO PASSED AWAY IN 1903. ON JUNE 18, 1905, IN PEORIA, HE WAS MARRIED TO MISS KATHRYN BRENKMENN. THEY CONTINUED TO MAKE THEIR HOME ON THE FARM SOUTH OF FORREST UNTIL JUNE, 1944, WHEN THEY MOVED TO 110 EAST ELM STREET IN THE CITY. MRS. TRAUB PASSED AWAY HERE AUGUST 28, 1947.

SURVIVING ARE FIVE CHILDREN: MRS. NAOMI FRANK AND MRS. MARY STAHL, OF DUNLAP; MISS MARGARET, FAIRBURY; AND EDWARD AND BEN, OF FORREST, ALSO THREE BROTHERS, CARL, OF BREMEN, IND., WILLIAM, OF PEORIA, AND GOTTLIEB, OF LAS ANGELES, CALIF.; THREE SISTERS, MRS. ROSE JOOST, OF PEORIA, AND TWO IN GERMANY, AND 12 GRANDCHILDREN.

TWO SONS PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD WEDNESDAY MORNING AT 10:30 O’CLOCK FROM THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH. INTERMENT WAS IN GRACELAND CEMETERY.

MRS. NAOMI FRANK, 82, OF DUNLAP AND FORMERLY OF FORREST, DIED AT 11:57 P.M. NOV. 26, AT PROCTOR HOSPITAL, PEORIA, WHERE SHE HAD BEEN A PATIENT SINCE NOV. 4.

SHE WAS BORN AUG. 2, 1898 AT FORREST, A DAUGHTER OF JOHN AND MARGARET IFFT TRAUB. SHE MARRIED CHRIS FRANK OCT. 4, 1923 IN PONTIAC.

HE SURVIVES, ALONG WITH ONE SON, RAYMOND OF DUNLAP, TWO GRANDCHILDREN, AND ONE GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER. SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY ONE BROTHER, BEN TRAUB OF FORREST AND TWO SISTERS, MRS. STAHL OF PEORIA AND MARGARET TRAUB OF SILVER LAKE, IND.

SHE WAS A MEMBER OF PRINCEVILLE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH WHERE SERVICES WERE HELD NOV. 29. BURIAL WAS IN THE CHURCH CEMETERY.

 

 

2. WILLIAM TRAUB 1900 - 1935

WILLIAM J. TRAUB

WILLIAM J. TRAUB PASSED AWAY AT 5 A. M., FRIDAY, DECEMBER 27, 1935, AT THE FAIRBURY HOSPITAL FOLLOWING A MAJOR OPERATION ON TUESDAY. THE FUNERAL WAS HELD AT 9:30 A. M., MONDAY, DECEMBER 30, AT THE SOUTH APOSTOLIC CEMETERY.

HE WAS A SON OF JOHN AND MARGARET TRAUB, AND WAS BORN TWO MILES SOUTH OF FORREST, MARCH 6, 1900.

HE LEAVES, BESIDES HIS PARENTS, THREE BROTHERS, EDWARD AND BEN, AT HOME, AND JOHN JR., OF FAIRBURY; THREE SISTERS, MRS. MAOMIA FRANK, OF DUNLAP; MARY, WHO WAS HIS HOUSEKEEPER, FOUR AND A HALF MILES SOUTH OF FORREST, ON A FARM, AND MARGARET, AT HOME.

3. JOHN TRAUB JR. 1901 - 1941

JOHN TRAUB, JR., DIED TUESDAY EVENING

JOHN TRAUB, JR., LIFETIME RESIDENT OF THIS COMMUNITY, PASSED AWAY ON TUESDAY EVENING AT 10 O’CLOCK AT THE FAIRBURY HOSPITAL. HIS CONDITION HAD BEEN SERIOUS FOR SEVERAL DAYS.

MR. TRAUB WAS BORN JULY 16, 1901, IN FORREST, SON OF JOHN AND MARGARET (IFFT) TRAUB. HE ATTENDED RURAL SCHOOLS AND WAS MARRIED TO MARY ZEHR IN FAIRBURY DECEMBER 22, 1929. THEY LIVED FOR A YEAR ON A FARM NEAR STRAWN AND THEN MOVED TO THE PRESENT FARM HOME A SHORT DISTANCE WEST OF TOWN. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH.

BESIDES HIS WIDOW, MR. TRAUB IS SURVIVED BY HIS FATHER AND THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: HARVEY, DOROTHY, RUTH, JUNIOR, EVELYN, MARJORIE, IDA LU, KATHRYN, ALL AT HOME.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE CONDUCTED AT 9 A.M. TODAY FROM HIS HOME, AND AT 10 O’CLOCK FROM THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH IN THIS CITY. BURIAL WILL BE IN GRACELAND CEMETERY.

MRS. JOHN TRAUB DIED AT HOME LAST EVENING

MRS. KATHERINE BRENKMENN TRAUB PASSED AWAY LAST EVENING AT ABOUT 10:30 O’CLOCK AT HER HOME AT 110 E. ELM STREET. SHE HAD SUFFERED WITH A HEART AILMENT FOR ABOUT TWO AND A HALF YEARS.

MRS. TRAUB WAS A DAUGHTER OF HENRY AND KATHERINE NAGEL BRENKMENN AND WAS BORN IN EPPINGER, BADEN, GERMANY, JANUARY 16, 1870. SHE CAME TO AMERICA AND TO ILLINOIS WHEN SHE WAS 23 YEARS OF AGE AND RESIDED FOR A TIME AT MORTON AND PEORIA.

ON JUNE 18, 1905. AT PEORIA, SHE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO JOHN TRAUB. THEY LIVED ON A FARM SOUTH OF FORREST UNTIL JUNE 1944 WHEN THEY MOVED TO FAIRBURY.

SURVIVING SHE LEAVES THE HUSBAND AND THREE DAUGHTERS, MRS. NAOMI FRANK, DUNLAP; MRS. MARY STAHL, PRINCEVILLE; MISS MARGARET, AT HOME; TWO SONS, BEN AND EDWARD, FORREST; TWO SISTERS, MRS. CHRISTINE WITTMER AND MRS. ELIZABETH STROH, WHO RESIDE IN GERMANY.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD SUNDAY AT 12:30 O’CLOCK AT THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH.

HER FUNERAL WAS AT 10 A.M. WEDNESDAY AT TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, PEORIA, WITH REV. GERALD V. FREUDENBURG OFFICIATING.

BURIAL WAS IN STREITMATTER CEMETERY, PRINCEVILLE.

SHE WAS BORN FEB. 26, 1908, IN FORREST, A DAUGHTER OF JOHN AND KATHERINA BRENKMANNTRAUB. SHE MARRIED EMIL E. STAHL SEPT. 30, 1939, AT FAIRBURY. HE DIED APRIL 18, 1966, IN PEORIA.

SURVIVING ARE A BROTHER, BEN J. TRAUB, FORREST; A SISTER, MARGARET TRAUB, SILVERLAKE, IND., AND SEVERAL NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY THREE BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER.

SHE WAS A MEMBER OF TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, PEORIA.

5. EDWARD TRAUB 1914 - 1975

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR EDWARD G. TRAUB, 60, RURAL FORREST, WILL BE HELD AT 10 A.M. TODAY, MARCH 27, 1975, AT THE FORREST APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH, WITH CHURCH MINISTERS OFFICIATING. HE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE CHURCH ONE HOUR BEFORE SERVICES. BURIAL WILL BE IN THE NORTH APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CEMETERY.

VISITATION WAS HELD AT CULKIN MEMORIAL HOME, FORREST, FROM 2 TO 5 P.M. AND 7 TO 9 P.M. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26.

MR. TRAUB WAS DEAD ON ARRIVAL AT FAIRBURY HOSPITAL ABOUT 11:45 A.M. MONDAY, MARCH 24, 1975.

HE WAS BORN AT FORREST, DECEMBER 7, 1914, A SON OF JOHN AND KATHARINA BRENKMANN TRAUB. HE MARRIED MILDRED STOLLER AT WATSEKA ON FEB. 18, 1944. HE HAD FARMED IN THE FORREST AREA MOST OF HIS LIFETIME AND ATTENDED THE FORREST APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH. A WORLD WAR II VETERAN, HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE FORREST AMERICA LEGION POST.

SURVIVING ARE HIS WIFE; A SON, JAMES, HOOPESTON; A BROTHER, BEN, FORREST; THREE SISTERS, MRS. MARY STAHL, PEORIA; MRS. NAOMI FRANK, DUNLAP; MARGARET TRAUB, SILVER LAKE, IND.

PALLBEARS WILL BE RICHARD RIEGER, DALE FARNEY, DONALD YODER, PERRY HONEGGER, GLEN SCHROF AND LESTER ZIMMERMAN.

6. MARGARET TRAUB 1917 - 1996

THE FUNERAL OF MARGARET E. TRAUB, 79, OF MILLERS MERRY MANOR WEST, WABASH, IND., FORMERLY OF FORREST, WILL BE AT 10 A.M. MONDAY AT HAGER FUNERAL HOME, FORREST, WITH MINISTERS OF THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN OF GRACELAND CEMETERY, FAIRBURY. VISITATION WILL BE FROM 4:30 TO 7:30 P.M. SUNDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME. SHE DIED THURSDAY MORNING (FEB. 8, 1996) AT THE MANOR.

SURVIVING IS ONE BROTHER, BEN J. TRAUB, FORREST.

ALSO SURVIVING ARE 12 NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

MISS TRAUB WAS BORN FEB. 9, 1917, IN FORREST, A DAUGHTER OF JOHN AND KATHARINA BRENKMAN TRAUB.

SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY THREE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS.

MISS TRAUB WAS AN APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN.
