JOHN G. STEIDINGER
JOHN GEORG STEIDINGER WAS BORN AT BADEN GERMANY, APRIL 3 1825 AND DIED AT HIS HOME IN THIS CITY, MONDAY MORNING AT THREE O'CLOCK, AGED 81 YEARS, SIX DAYS. HE GREW TO MANHOOD IN HIS NATIVE HOME, COMING TO AMERICA IN 1875, COMING DIRECT TO THIS CITY. ABOUT A MONTH AFTER ARRIVING HERE MR. STEIDINGER PURCHASED THE HOME FARM IN AVOCA TOWNSHIP, WHERE HE RESIDED UNTIL THE DEATH OF HIS WIFE.
HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MISS ANNA MARY YACKLEY IN 1844, AT BADEN GERMANY, AND TRAVELED LIFE'S PATHWAY TOGETHER UNTIL APRIL 27 1902, WHEN MRS. STEIDINGER PASSED TO HER REST. SIXTEEN CHILDREN WERE BORN TO THEM, EIGHT OF WHOM ARE LIVING, JOHN, JOHN G., MRS. SALLIE BITTNER, ANDREW, MRS. MARY RAMSEYER, MARTIN, ALEX, ANNA L., AND BARTEL. ALL THE CHILDREN RESIDE IN THIS VICINITY.
MR. STEIDINGER WAS A MINISTER OF THE GERMAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH IN GERMANY AND WAS ONE OF THE FIRST MINISTERS OF THAT CHURCH IN THIS CITY. HE WAS A TRUE CHRISTIAN AND A CITIZEN, WHO HELD THE RESPECT AND ESTEEM OF ALL WHO KNEW HIM.
THE FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE GERMAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH TUESDAY AFTERNOON, REVS. GOTTLIEB HOHULING, OF MACANAW, AND M. MONGOLD, OF ROANOKE, OFFICIATING. A LARGE NUMBER OF FRIENDS FROM NEIGHBORING TOWNS, AS WELL AS NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS IN THIS CITY WERE PRESENT. THE REMAINS WERE LAID TO REST IN THE FAIRBURY CEMETERY.

JOHN G. STEIDINGER
JOHN GEORG STEIDINGER DIED AT THE HOME OF HIS BROTHER, BARTEL STEIDINGER, TUESDAY, SEPT. 24, AGED 59 YEARS, 8 MONTHS AND 9 DAYS. THE DECEASED WAS BORN IN BADEN, GERMANY, FEB. 15, 1853. HE CAME TO THIS COUNTY WHEN HE WAS 13 YEARS OLD AND HAS RESIDED HERE SINCE THAT TIME. SINCE COMING HERE HE HAS MADE TWO TRIPS TO THE LAND OF HIS NATIVITY. MR. STEIDINGER HAD BEEN ILL FOR SOME TIME PAST AND RECENTLY UNDERWENT AN OPERATION. HE LEAVES TO MOURN HIS DEATH FOUR BROTHERS THREE SISTERS AND NUMEROUS FRIENDS. THE FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE GERMAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH THURSDAY AFTERNOON, REV. JOHN KAISNER OFFICIATING, AND THE REMAINS WERE HELD LAID TO REST IN THE FAIRBURY CEMETERY.

MRS. SALOME BITTNER, WHO FOR MANY YEARS HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF THIS VICINITY, PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY EVENING ABOUT SEVEN O'CLOCK AT THE HOME OF HER SON, LOUIS BITTNER, SOUTH OF FAIRBURY. MRS. BITTNER, WHOSE ILLNESS WAS OF LONG DURATION, WAS AGED 82 YEARS, 11 MONTHS AND 8 DAYS. SHE HAD MADE HER HOME WITH HER SON FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS PAST.
SALOME, DAUGHTER OF JOHN AND ANNA (YEAGLI) STEIDINGER, WAS BORN AT SCHWALTZWALD, GERMANY, JUNE 10, 1855. SHE GREW TO YOUNG WOMANHOOD IN HER NATIVE COUNTRY AND IN JULY, 1875, WHEN 20 YEARS OF AGE, CAME TO AMERICA. SHE CAME TO THIS VICINITY AND FOR THE PAST 57 YEARS HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF INDIAN GROVE TOWNSHIP. IN DECEMBER, 1881, SHE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO VALENTINE BITTNER, WHO PASSED AWAY MAY 22, 1898.
SURVIVING MRS. BITTNER ARE FIVE CHILDREN - MRS. J. W. PATERNOSTER, MISS LOUISE AND SALOME BITTNER AND SAM AND LOUIS BITTNER. ALSO SURVIVING ARE EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD FROM THE HOME OF MR. AND MRS. LOUIS BITTNER TOMORROW MORNING AT 10 O'CLOCK. INTERMENT WILL BE IN SOUTH CEMETERY.

ANDREW W. STEIDINGER PASSED AWAY YESTERDAY
ANDREW W. STEIDINGER, AGED 86, PASSED AWAY YESTERDAY MORNING AT 7:30 O’CLOCK AT ST. JAMES HOSPITAL AT PONTIAC SIXTY-EIGHT OF THOSE 86 YEARS HAD BEEN SPENT IN FAIRBURY AND VICINITY.
LAST APRIL MR. STEIDINGER WENT TO MAKE HIS HOME AT THE COUNTY FARM, WHERE HE WAS A PATIENT UNTIL DECEMBER 4. ON DECEMBER 4, PAUL BOLEN, SUPERINTENDENT OF THE COUNTY FARM, WAS RIDING IN HIS CAR ON ROUTE 66, WHEN HE CAME UPON MR. STEIDINGER WALKING ALONG THE PAVEMENT NEAR OCOYA. RECOGNIZING HIM, MR. BOLEN STOPPED AND TOOK MR. STEIDINGER IN HIS CAR.
MR. BOLEN NOTICED MR. STEIDINGER WAS INJURED AND AN EXAMINATION SHOWED THAT HE HAD AN INJURED HAND AND THAT HIS ARM WAS BROKEN AT THE WRIST JOINT, ONE OF THE BONES PROTRUDING THROUGH THE FLESH. MR. STEIDINGER WAS NOT ABLE TO GIVE A COHERENT ACCOUNT OF HIS INJURY, BUT THE SUPPOSITION IS THAT HE WAS TRYING TO CATCH A RIDE AND THAT WHILE HOLDING HIS HAND OUT IT WAS HIT BY A TRUCK OR CAR, THE DRIVER OF WHICH DID NOT STOP.
MR. BOLEN TOOK THE INJURED MAN TO ST. JAMES HOSPITAL, PONTIAC, WHERE HE GREW STEADILY WORSE. THE PHYSICIAN IN CHARGE GAVE THE CAUSE OF HIS DEATH AS A CHRONIC AILMENT OF THE HEART MUSCLES, WITH SHOCK AS A CONTRIBUTING CAUSE. CORONER ESSINGTON, OF ODELL, CONDUCTED AN INQUIRY.
MR. STEIDINGER WAS BORN IN GERMANY, MAY 2, 1857. HE RESIDED THERE UNTIL HE WAS 18 YEARS OF AGE, WHEN HE CAME TO AMERICA, AND COMING TO THIS COMMUNITY, HAD SINCE RESIDED HERE, FOLLOWING THE OCCUPATION OF FARMING NEAR FAIRBURY AND FORREST.
SIXTY-TWO YEARS AGO HE WAS MARRIED TO KATE ABERSOL, WHO SURVIVES TOGETHER WITH THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: MRS. LENA BLUME, OF LAYAYETTE, IND.; JESS STEIDINGER, OF DECATUR; MRS. PERCY HERBERICH, OF WESTON; ANDREW P. STEIDINGER, OF FAIRBURY; MRS. KATHRYN FAHEY, OF FORREST. THE FOLLOWING BROTHERS ALSO SURVIVE: MARTIN, ALEX AND BARTEL, ALL OF FAIRBURY.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD TOMORROW MORNING AT TEN O’CLOCK FROM THE MOWRY FUNERAL HOME. INTERMENT WILL BE IN GRACELAND.

MRS. ANNA M. RAMSEYER WAS BORN JUNE 24, 1858, IN BADEN, GERMANY, AND DIED WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, NOVEMBER 4, 1914, AGED 56 YEARS, 4 MONTHS AND 10 DAYS.
MRS. RAMSEYER UNDERWENT AN OPERATION TUESDAY MORNING. SHE PASSED THROUGH THE OPERATION VERY WELL AND WAS MAKING A GOOD RECOVERY WHEN SHE WAS SUDDENLY TAKEN WITH AN ATTACK OF HEART TROUBLE AND PASSED AWAY.
HER EARLY LIFE WAS SPENT IN GERMANY, COMING TO THIS COUNTRY WITH HER PARENTS, JOHN AND ANNA STEIDINGER. SHE WAS ONE OF A FAMILY OF SIXTEEN CHILDREN.
ON DECEMBER 6, 1881, SHE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO JACOB RAMSEYER. TO THIS UNION EIGHT CHILDREN WERE BORN. THEY ARE MINNIE, ANNA, NETTIE, EMMA, NAOMA, CLYDE, WALACE AND ALPHA. THEY ARE ALL LEFT TO MOURN THEIR MOTHER’S DEATH, EXCEPT EMMA, WHO PASSED AWAY JUNE 12, 1902. MR. RAMSEYER DIED ON DECEMBER 10, 1900.
WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SEVERAL YEARS FOLLOWING HER MARRIAGE SHE HAD SPENT HER ENTIRE LIFE SINCE COMING TO THIS COUNTRY, NEAR FAIRBURY. DURING THAT TIME SHE MADE MANY FRIENDS WHO JOIN WITH THE FAMILY IN MOURNING HER LOSS. SHE WAS A GOOD WIFE AND A DEVOTED MOTHER, AND WILL BE MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW HER.
THE FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD FROM THE GERMAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT 1:30 O’CLOCK. INTERMENT IN FAIRBURY CEMETERY.

HE WAS BORN IN BADEN, GERMANY, AUG. 17, 1863, A SON OF JOHN G. AND MARY YACKLEY STEIDINGER. HE CAME TO THIS COUNTRY AT THE AGE OF 12. HE FARMED NEAR FAIRBURY AND MOVED INTO TOWN 28 YEARS AGO. HE MARRIED EUNICE WEYENETH AT ROANOKE, JULY 1, 1888.

BORN ON FEBRUARY 18, 1856, AT BADEN, GERMANY. MR. STEIDINGER WAS A SON OF JOHN G. AND ANNA MARY (YACKLEY) STEIDINGER. AT THE AGE OF TEN MR. STEIDINGER, WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY CAME TO FAIRBURY AND FOR MANY YEARS WAS A FARMER IN THIS VICINITY, RETIRING A FEW YEARS AGO.
ON FEBRUARY 18, 1891, HE MARRIED SARAH ZIMMERMAN AT FAIRBURY. HIS WIFE AND TWO BROTHERS PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH.

ON MARCH 22, 1896, HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO LEAH STOLLER. SHE SURVIVES TOGETHER WITH THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: ALVIN, AT HOME; MRS. MR. STEIDINGER CAME TO THE UNITED STATES WITH HIS FAMILY IN 1885, COMING DIRECT TO FAIRBURY. HE PURCHASED A FARM NORTH OF TOWN AND RESIDED THERE UNTIL THREE YEARS AGO, WHEN HE CAME TO TOWN TO LIVE WITH HIS SON, JOHN, HIS WIFE DIED SIX YEARS AGO.
MR. STEIDINGER WAS AN EXCELLENT CITIZEN AND DURING HIS LONG RESIDENCE HERE MADE MANY FRIENDS BY WHOM HE WAS HELD IN THE HIGHEST ESTEEM.
THE FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD THIS AFTERNOON AT THE CHRISTIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH IN THIS CITY AND THE REMAINS LAID TO REST IN THE FAIRBURY CEMETERY.

MARA AGATHA HEINSMAN WAS BORN IN GERMANY SEPTEMBER 14, 1831, AND DIED AT HER HOME NORTH OF THIS CITY, MONDAY, MAY 12, 1913, AT 11 O’CLOCK A.M., AGED 81 YEARS, 8 MONTHS AND 28 DAYS. SHE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO ANDREW STEIDINGER IN 1853. TO THIS UNION WERE BORN EIGHT CHILDREN, GOTTLEIB, ANDREW, MAT AND JOHN, OF FAIRBURY; MRS. JOHN HUENI, OF RISK; BARTLE. OF STRAWN; CHRIST AND J. A., OF FORREST.
THEY CAME TO THIS COUNTY IN 1883, SETTLING VERY SOON AFTER ARRIVING ON THE FARM NORTH OF FAIRBURY WHICH HAS BEEN HER HOME UP TO THE TIME OF HER DEATH.
SHE WAS A KIND AND LOVING MOTHER AND A FAITHFUL WIFE, AND A TRUE FRIEND. SHE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW HER.

GOTTLIEB STEIDINGER, ONE OF THIS CITY’S HIGHLY ESTEEMED CITIZENS, AND WHO HAD BEEN IN BUSINESS HERE FOR OVER FORTY YEARS, PASSED AWAY AT HIS HOME IN THIS CITY YESTERDAY MORNING AT 12:30 O’CLOCK.
GOTTLIEB STEIDINGER, SON OF ANDREW AND MARIA AGATHA STEIDINGER, WAS BORN AT PETERZELL, GERMANY, NOVEMBER 21, 1852. HE RECEIVED HID EDUCATION IN THE SCHOOLS OF HIS NATIVE COUNTRY, WHERE HE ALSO LEARNED THE BLACKSMITHING TRADE. WHEN 32 YEARS OF AGE HE CAME TO AMERICA AND LOCATED IN FAIRBURY, WHERE HE HAD SINCE RESIDED.
LATER HE ENGAGED IN THE BLACKSMITHING BUSINESS, CONDUCTING A SHOP HERE FOR OVER FORTY YEARS. HE WAS ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN THIS BUSINESS UNTIL HE WAS TAKEN SICK A WEEK AGO. FOR 21 OF THESE YEARS A. H. BIRCH WAS ASSOCIATED WITH HIM IN BUSINESS.
ON MARCH 4, 1894, IN THIS CITY, MR. STEIDINGER WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MISS BERTHA FEHR, WHO SURVIVES, TOGETHER WITH THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: MISSES MINNIE AND LEONA, AT HOME; ERWIN AND REUBEN, OF BIRMINGHAM, ALA.; MISS RUTH, OF COLUMBUS, OHIO; MRS. ELI MOSER, OF FAIRBURY. TWO GRANDCHILDREN, ROBERT AND SHIRLEY ANN MOSER; TWO BROTHERS, BARTEL AND JOHN, OF PEORIA, AND SISTER, MRS. JOHN HUENI, OF BREMEN, IND., ALSO SURVIVE. ONE SON, AMOS, PASSED AWAY NOVEMBER 17, 1905.
HONEST, CONSCIENTIOUS AND UPRIGHT, MR. STEIDINGER HELD THE RESPECT AND CONFIDENCE OF ALL THOSE WITH WHOM HE CAME IN CONTACT. A KIND AND LOVING HUSBAND AND FATHER, HE WILL BE MISSED IN THE HOME.

THE DECEASED WAS BORN JANUARY 21, 1854, IN PATERZELL, BADEN, GERMANY, AND AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH WAS AGED 74 YEARS, 7 MONTHS AND 14 DAYS. HE GREW TO YOUNG MANHOOD IN HIS NATIVE COUNTY, COMING TO AMERICA 50 YEARS AGO. TWO OF THESE FIFTY YEARS WERE SPENT IN WOODFORD COUNTY THE REMAINING FORTY-EIGHT YEARS BEING SPENT IN THIS VICINITY.

JOHN G. STEIDINGER, AGED 72 YEARS MEETS ACCIDENTAL DEATH SUNDAY BODY FOUND BY DAUGHTER.
JOHN G. STEIDINGER, AGED 72 YEARS, FOR MANY YEARS A RESIDENT OF THE VICINITY, WAS FOUND DEAD AT HIS HOME SUNDAY AFTERNOON A LITTLE BEFORE TWO O’CLOCK BY HIS DAUGHTER, MISS EMMA, WHO FOUND THE BODY OF HER FATHER AT THE FOOT OF THE BASEMENT STAIRS WHEN SHE RETURNED HOME FROM CHURCH.
CORONER ELMO KNICK CAME OVER FROM PONTIAC ON SUNDAY EVENING AND CONDUCTED THE INQUEST, MISS STEIDINGER WAS THE ONLY WITNESS CALLED. SHE STATED THAT WHEN SHE WENT TO CHURCH IN THE MORNING ABOUT 9:15 O’CLOCK HER FATHER WAS AT HOME AND IN HIS USUAL HEALTH. WHEN SHE CAME BACK HOME ABOUT TWO O’CLOCK SHE DID NOT SEE HER FATHER ABOUT THE HOUSE. NOTICING THAT THE DOOR LEADING TO THE BASEMENT WAS OPEN SHE LOOKED DOWN THE STAIRWAY AND SAW HER FATHER LYING AT THE FOOT OF THE STEPS, ED PATTON, A NEIGHBOR, WAS CALLED, AND DR. THATCHER WAS ALSO SUMMONED, WHO STATED THAT MR. STEIDINGER WAS DEAD. THERE IS A SPACE OF ABOUT 18 INCHES BETWEEN THE BOTTOM STEP AND THE DOOR OPENING INTO ONE PART OF THE BASEMENT AND IT WAS IN THIS NARROW SPACE THAT THE BODY WAS FOUND. THERE WAS A BAD CUT OVER THE RIGHT EYE, WHERE HIS HEAD HAD STUCK THE SHARP EDGE OF A STEP AS MR. STEIDINGER FELL.
THE JURY AFTER VIEWING THE BODY AND HEARING THE TESTIMONY GIVEN BY MISS STEIDINGER, RETURNED A VERDICT THAT THE DECEASED CAME TO HIS DEATH "FROM INJURIES RECEIVED FROM A FALL FROM THE TOP OF THE CELLAR STEPS TO THE BASEMENT FLOOR.

SHE WAS BORN MAY 14, 1889, AT FAIRBURY, A DAUGHTER OF MARTIN AND EUNICE WEYENETH STEIDINGER. SHE MARRIED HERMAN BAHLER FEB. 21, 1915, AT FAIRBURY. HE DIED DEC. 2, 1972.
SURVIVING ARE TWO SONS, URBAN AND HARVEY, BOTH OF FAIRBURY; FIVE DAUGHTERS, ALMA, VERNA AND WILMA BAHLER AND ELLA MEYER, ALL OF PEORIA, AND LAVINA GROSSHANS, FAIRBURY; THREE BROTHERS, JOE STEIDINGER, FORREST, AND BEN AND URBAN, BOTH OF FAIRBURY; TWO SISTERS, SALOME AND EUNICE STEIDINGER, BOTH OF FAIRBURY; 16 GRANDCHILDREN, AND 10 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN.
A SON, A DAUGHTER, A BROTHER AND A SISTER PRECEDED HER IN DEATH.
SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE GERMAN APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF PEORIA.

MRS. NETTIE EDELMAN, 83, WAS KILLED IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON CHRISTMAS EVE NEAR HER HOME IN BERN, KA.
THE FORMER NETTIE STEIDINGER, DAUGHTER OF THE LATE MARTIN STEIDINGER OF FAIRBURY, IS SURVIVED BY ONE DAUGHTER, ALBERTA, WITH WHOM SHE MADE HER HOME.
ALSO SURVIVING ARE THREE SISTERS, EVODIA BAHLER OF PEORIA AND SALLY AND EUNICE OF FAIRBURY; THREE BROTHERS, JOE, BEN AND URBAN, ALL OF THIS AREA.
HER HUSBAND AND ONE BROTHER PRECEDED HER IN DEATH.
SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE CHRISTIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH OF SABETHA, KA.
ELDON STEIDINGER TOOK HIS PARENTS, THE URBAN STEIDINGER, AND AUNTS EUNICE AND SALLY, TO THE FUNERAL SERVICES, WHICH WERE HELD AT THE POPKISS MORTUARY IN SEBETHA ON THURSDAY MORNING, DEC. 27, 1973.

MR. STEIDINGER WAS BORN MAY 21, 1894, AT FAIRBURY, A SON OF MARTIN AND EUNICE WEYENETH STEIDINGER. HE MARRIED BERTHA IFFT ON JAN. 22, 1928, AT FAIRBURY.

SHE WAS A MEMBER OF CHRISTIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH FORREST PARK, FORREST. SHE WAS EDUCATED IN FAIRBURY SCHOOLS.

MR. STEIDINGER WAS BORN DEC. 24, 1905, AT FAIRBURY, A SON OF MARTIN AND EUNICE WEYENETH STEIDINGER. HE MARRIED OLLIE I. MOSER AT FAIRBURY ON AUG. 3, 1930.
HE FARMED SOUTH OF FAIRBURY UNTIL RETIRING IN 1970, WHEN HE MOVED TO FAIRBURY. MR. STEIDINGER WAS AFFILIATED WITH THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH IN FAIRBURY.
