MRS. SALOME BITTNER, WHO FOR MANY YEARS HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF THIS VICINITY, PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY EVENING ABOUT SEVEN O'CLOCK AT THE HOME OF HER SON, LOUIS BITTNER, SOUTH OF FAIRBURY. MRS. BITTNER, WHOSE ILLNESS WAS OF LONG DURATION, WAS AGED 82 YEARS, 11 MONTHS AND 8 DAYS. SHE HAD MADE HER HOME WITH HER SON FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS PAST.
SALOME, DAUGHTER OF JOHN AND ANNA (YEAGLI) STEIDINGER, WAS BORN AT SCHWALTZWALD, GERMANY, JUNE 10, 1855. SHE GREW TO YOUNG WOMANHOOD IN HER NATIVE COUNTRY AND IN JULY, 1875, WHEN 20 YEARS OF AGE, CAME TO AMERICA. SHE CAME TO THIS VICINITY AND FOR THE PAST 57 YEARS HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF INDIAN GROVE TOWNSHIP. IN DECEMBER, 1881, SHE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO VALENTINE BITTNER, WHO PASSED AWAY MAY 22, 1898.
SURVIVING MRS. BITTNER ARE FIVE CHILDREN - MRS. J. W. PATERNOSTER, MISS LOUISE AND SALOME BITTNER AND SAM AND LOUIS BITTNER. ALSO SURVIVING ARE EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD FROM THE HOME OF MR. AND MRS. LOUIS BITTNER TOMORROW MORNING AT 10 O'CLOCK. INTERMENT WILL BE IN SOUTH CEMETERY.

SURVIVING ARE A DAUGHTER, MRS. SALLY SCHIELER, FAIRBURY; TWO SISTERS, MISS POUISE AND MISS SALLY BITTNER, AND A BROTHER, LOUIS BITTNER, ALL OF FAIRBURY, FIVE GRANDCHILDREN, AND ONE GREAT-GRANDCHILD.

SAMUEL BITTNER DIED LAST SATURDAY
SAMUEL B. BITTNER, A WELL KNOWN FARMER RESIDING SOUTH OF FAIRBURY, PASSED AWAY LAST SATURDAY MORNING AT THE AGE OF 44 YEARS, 10 MONTHS AND 25 DAYS, FOLLOWING AN ILLNESS OF SEVERAL WEEKS. ABOUT A YEAR AGO MR. BITTNER WAS QUITE BADLY INJURED WHEN HE FELL FROM A HAYRACK AND IT HAS BEEN ONLY RECENTLY THAT HE WAS ABLE TO BE ABOUT.
MR. BITTNER WAS BORN IN INDIAN GROVE TOWNSHIP, SOUTHEAST OF FAIRBURY, NOVEMBER 26, 1894. HE ATTENDED THE SCHOOLS OF THAT VICINITY AND LATER TOOK UP THE OCCUPATION OF FARMING. ON JULY 24, 1921, IN THIS CITY, HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MISS LYDIA ZIMMERMAN.
SURVIVING ARE MRS. BITTNER AND THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: EMMA, ALICE, WAYNE, EVERETT, MERLE, CYNTHIA, NORMA, JEAN, BETTY AND DARLENE ESTHER. SURVIVING ALSO ARE THE FOLLOWING BROTHERS AND SISTERS: LOUIS BITTNER, MRS. JOSEPH PATERNOSTER, MISS SALLY BITTNER AND MISS LOUISE BITTNER, ALL OF FAIRBURY.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH, OF WHICH HE WAS A MEMBER, MONDAY AFTERNOON AT 1:30 O’CLOCK. INTERMENT WAS IN GRACELAND CEMETERY.

PRIVATE VISITATION AND FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE BITTNER HOME ON SATURDAY MORNING. BURIAL WAS IN THE GRACELAND CEMETERY. STIVER HOME FOR FUNERALS WAS IN CHARGE OF ARRANGEMENTS.
HE WAS BORN JUNE 2, 1898 IN FAIRBURY ,A SON OF VALENTINE AND SALOME STEIDINGER BITTNER. HE MARRIED FRIEDA BECKLEY IN PEORIA ON JANUARY 1, 1948. SHE DIED NOV. 25, 1964. IN AUGUST, 1968 HE MARRIED CAROLINE YOUNG IN FAIRBURY.
SURVIVING ARE HIS WIFE AND TWO SISTERS, MISS LOUISE BITTNER AND MISS SALLY BITTNER, BOTH OF FAIRBURY.

MISS LENA LENA BITTNER, AGED 82, PASSED AWAY LAST SUNDAY MORNING, APRIL 24, AT THE HOME OF MR. AND MRS. SAMUEL LEMAN NORTHWEST OF THIS CITY, AFTER AN ILLNESS EXTENDING OVER SEVERAL MONTHS. SHE WAS BORN AT BYRON, GERMANY, SEPT. 2, 1849, AND CAME TO THIS COUNTRY WHEN SEVEN YEARS OF AGE WITH HER PARENTS, MR. AND MRS. FRED BITTNER, PIONEER RESIDENTS OF PARTRIDGE TOWNSHIP, WOODFORD COUNTY. SHE HAS ALWAYS MADE HER HOME WITH HER SISTER, MRS. LEMAN. SURVIVING HER ARE ONE SISTER, MRS. LEMAN, AND TWO BROTHERS, JOHN AND CLEO BITTNER. FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE LEMAN HOME WEDNESDAY MORNING AT 9:00 O’CLOCK AND FROM THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH AT 10:00 O’CLOCK.

WORD WAS RECEIVED IN EUREKA YESTERDAY AFTERNOON OF THE DEATH OF CLEO F. BITTNER, WHICH OCCURRED THAT MORNING IN THE PROCTOR HOSPITAL IN PEORIA, FOLLOWING AN OPERATION FOR APPENDICITIS PERFORMED A WEEK AGO.
CLEO F. BITTNER WAS BORN IN WORTH TOWNSHIP, WOODFORD COUNTY, AUGUST 23, 1861, AND SPENT HIS ENTIRE LIFE, EXCEPT THE LAST YEAR, IN THIS COUNTY, BEING AN EXTENSIVE FARMER NORTHEAST OF EUREKA AFTER REACHING MANHOOD. HE WAS MARRIED TO MISS ELIZABETH MARTIN IN APRIL, 1883, WHO PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH AUGUST 5, 1918. THEY WERE THE PARENTS OF TEN CHILDREN, TWO OF WHOM DIED IN INFANCY, THE SURVIVING CHILDREN BEING, BENJ. D., OLIVIA L., MINNIE C., ELIAS H., ELIZABETH C., EMMA A., EDWARD F. AND JOHN S. HE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY ONE SISTER, MRS. SAM LEMAN OF NEAR EUEKA, AND ONE BROTHER JOHN, OF PEORIA. WITH TWO OF HIS DAUGHTERS HE MOVED TO PEORIA MARCH 1, 1933; THE BALANCE OF THE CHILDREN ARE RESIDENTS IN THE VICINITY.
THE BODY OF MR. BITTNER WAS BROUGHT TO THE HOME OF HIS SON, EDWARD AND JOHN, WHERE A SHORT FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 9 A. M. SATURDAY, MARCH 17, FOLLOWED BY SERVICE AT THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH NORTHEAST OF EUREKA AT 10 A. M. INTERMENT WILL BE IN THE CHURCH CEMETERY.

BORN IN WOODFORD COUNTY JAN. 30, 1866, HE MARRIED LYDIA SCHMIDT ON JAN. 6, 1896 IN EUREKA. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH.
SURVIVING ARE SIX SONS, WILLIAM BITTNER, OF OCEANSIDE, CALIF.; THEODORE, OF CHICAGO; JOHN, OF EUREKA; FRED, LESTER, WALTER AND JOSEPH, ALL OF PEORIA; FOUR DAUGHTERS, MISS PRISCILLA BITTNER, MRS. BURIAL SERVICES FOR MRS. SAMUEL LEMAN SR., OF EUREKA WERE CONDUCTED SUNDAY AFTERNOON WITH INTERMENT IN THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH CEMETERY HERE.
FINAL RITES HAD BEEN CONDUCTED AT THE MASON FUNERAL HOME IN METAMORA, AT THE RESIDENCE IN EUREKA, AND AT THE ROANOKE TOWNSHIP APOSTOLIC CHURCH.
MRS. LEMAN, WHO HAD BEEN ILL FOR SEVERAL YEARS, DIED AT HER HOME FRIDAY AFTERNOON. SHE WAS 81 YEARS OLD.
A NATIVE OF WOODFORD COUNTY HER ENTIRE LIFE, MRS. LEMAN WAS BORN NEAR WASHINGTON IN 1869, A DAUGHTER OF FREDERICK AND BARBARA BITTNER. SHE MARRIED SAMUEL LEMAN MARCH 24, 1895. MR. LEMAN DIED IN 1947.
A MEMBER OF THE ROANOKE TOWNSHIP APOSTOLIC CHURCH, MRS. LEMAN FOR MANY YEARS WAS ACTIVE IN CHURCH AFFAIRS AND HAD PLAYED A LEADING ROLE IN WOMEN’S ACTIVITIES IN THE CITY.
DURING THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS, MRS. LEMAN HAS BEEN INACTIVE FOR THE MOST PART, DUE TO ILLNESS. WELL KNOWN IN EUREKA, SHE HAS A HOST OF FRIENDS AMONG THE CITY’S TOWNSPEOPLE.
SHE IS SURVIVED BY FOUR SONS, FRED, OF ROANOKE; JOHN, SAM AND DAVID, OF EUREKA; FOUR DAUGHTERS, MISS KATHRYN LEMAN, OF EUREKA; MRS. BARBARA BAUER, OF CISSNA PARK AND MISS ELIZA AND MRS. MINNIE LEMAN, BOTH OF PEORIA.
MRS. LEMAN WAS THE GRANDMOTHER OF 28 GRANDCHILDREN. ONE DAUGHTER PRECEDED HER IN DEATH.
